About Light Sheer™ Treatment

The Light Sheer™ Diode laser is a state-of-the-art system secially designed to remove unwanted hair fast, with less discomfort and more reliably than other methods.

A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the Light Sheer™ Diode laser is well absorbed by the pigment located in hair follicles. During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, long enough to heat up the hair and significantly impede the follicles ability to re-grow. This process also treats numerous hair follicles simultaneously. Therefore, Light Sheer™ is appropriate for treating even the largest areas of the body both quickly and effectively.

The combination of this cooling method and other key parameters allows for safe and effective treatment in all skin types, including ethnic and tanned skin.

An important part of the procedure is the cooling of the skin. A special contact-cooling hand piece allows your physician to treat even the most sensitive skin. It protects and cools the upper layer of the skin before, during and after each laser pulse while directing the laser energy to the hair root.

Why does the Light Sheer Diode work better than IPL or SPL?
The Light Sheer Diode uses a infared red light only. This is the most effective light to target the follicle. IPL & SPL use a broad spectrum of coloured light and they are used for many other functions such as skin rejeuvenation & pigmentation. The strengh of IPL & SPL is spread through all these different coloured lights not just the infared red. Therefore, the energy that is used for hair removal is not as strong as the Light Sheer. That is why bronz does not use its IPL machine for hair removal.
Why is there so much varience in price?
You can find a lot of cheap prices but they will definatly be companies who use cheaper non medical machines. Therefore, you may end up needing twice as many treatments as they will not be as effective. So in the long run you it will take you longer and cost you more when you use these cheaper machines.
How does hair removal work?
There are 3 different hair growth cycles, the laser only works on the active hair growth cycle and these change every month on the face and every 6 weeks on the body.

The laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted is well-absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough vaporize the pigment, disabling numerous follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair’s regrowth.

Importantly, the Light Sheer’s special contact-cooling handpiece is perfect for sensitive skin. It protects and cools the upper layer of the skin before, during and after each pulse while directing the laser energy to the hair root. The combination of this aggressive skin cooling and other key laser parameters allows safe and effective treatment of all skin colours.

What should a patient expect during and after treatment?
The length of a laser session may be a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. Because the laser only treats hair that is in the active growth phase 4 – 8 treatments may be required to disable hair follicles that subsequently enter this phase. More sessions are required for dark skin.
Does it hurt?
Laser treatment itself may cause a slight tingling sensation. Most clients tolerate the procedure well. Because some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, a topical anaesthesia should be applied. This can be purchased from “bronz” costing $ 88. The numbing cream needs to be applied at least 1 hour before the treatment and left for 10 to 15mins to sink in before applying clothing. You will need this cream if you are doing sensitive areas such as the Face, Bikini or Brazilian, Under Arm, or male Back or Chest Laser.
Should I tweeze, undergo electrolyses, wax or use depilatory before my first treatment?
For optimum results, please refrain from any hair removals 4 weeks prior to laser, except shaving which you must do the day before treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Clients may experience possible redness or mild swelling that may last for an hour or even 24 hrs. Some grazing or mild scabbing may occur which will subside over a few days. Hypo\hperpigmentation is a possibility in 3% of cases though we ensure to take the bestapproach to avoid this problem. Sometimes it cannot be helped, however it is generally not permanent and is more common in skin types 3 and above.
How many treatments will I need and how often do I repeat them?
We recommend 4 to 8 treatments initially at 6 week intervals and possibly minor touch ups at 6 month intervals until complete elimination is achieved.
How do I know if I am a suitable candidate for laser?
The nature of the laser is to be attracted to anything that is coloured. The darker the colour the stronger the attraction. If your hair has colour and you have not had recent sun exposure (no sun on the area to be lasered for 2-4 week prior to treatment) then you are a suitable candidate. If your hair is grey, red or blond or then you are probably not. You cannot have laser if you are pregnant. You may not be able to have laser if you are on certain photo-sensitive medications.
What areas can I have lasered?
Laser works in most parts of the body, including legs, arms, chest, back, shoulders, face, buttocks, underarms, feet, hands, neck and bikini area!
What is the difference between your laser, the light sheer diode and SPL or IPL?
The Light Sheer Diode uses an infared red light only. This is the most effective light to target the hair follicle. IPL & SPL use a broad spectrum of colored light and they are used for many other functions such as skin rejuvenation & pigmentation. The strength of IPL & SPL is spread through all these different colored lights not just the infared red. Therefore, the energy that is used for hair removal is not as strong as the Light Sheer. That is why bronz does not use its IPL machine for hair removal, you will almost certainly need twice as many treatments using IPL or SPL as you will with the Light Sheer Diode.
Post-Laser Treatment
Post-Laser Treatment is available to help soothe and subside any mild reaction as well as exfoliate out any remaining treated hairs. This treatment includes Cleanse, Exfoliant and a soothing Masque from $20 depending on the size of the area.
